Now I lay me down to sleep
On this final Sunday of
Lent, we hear Jesus’ words from the cross, “Father, into your hands I commit my
spirit.” It's a memorized prayer, not unlike the prayer a child recites at bedtime. This is Palm Sunday, that day
when shouts of praise changed to a demand for crucifixion. We will celebrate the sacrament of baptism as
Nathan and Cheryl Heemskerk bring their baby daughter Mackenzie Grace before
God and his people to be baptized. Mar 29, 10 a.m.

I thirst
This is the fifth Sunday of
Lent. This morning we hear the words that Jesus uttered through parched lips as
he hung on the cross: “I thirst." Jesus suffered, in all his humanity. It's through the mess of the crucifixion that our messes are cleaned up. Sunday, March 22, 10 a.m.

Forsaken
While on the cross, Jesus is forsaken by God. He utters that heart-wrenching cry as he is crucified. This Sunday, on the 4th Sunday of Lent, we consider those words from Jesus. March 15, 10 a.m.
This is serious
"We were under a death sentence." That's what Fred Klooster writes in his commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism (My Only Comfort, 510). "We were under a death sentence and [Jesus] took our place."
And yet, most of us don't really think we are all that bad, at least not bad enough to deserve the death penalty. Think again. This is serious business.
This Sunday evening, March 15, 6pm, we will turn to the Heidelberg Catechism to consider some very serious questions about Jesus' suffering.

Jessica's faith journey
This morning we heard Jessica Visser re-affirm her faith as she becomes a member of Ancaster CRC. God has blessed her on her faith journey and we are confident that he will continue to do so! Jordan and Jessica were married here last summer.

Last will and testament
As Jesus is dying on the cross, he pronounces the details of his last will and testament, providing for the needs of his mother. He sees her, really sees her. And when our God sees us, he reaches out to us, no matter the circumstances. Jesus came, he saw, and he conquered. Join us in worshiping this God on Sunday, March 8 at 10 a.m.
