The repentance tree

Zacchaeus climbed a tree.  But it wasn't just any tree. It was a tree of repentance.  When salvation comes to our houses, it calls for a response.  The first response is to come out of our tree and then to acknowledge how much we need Jesus.  In other words, we need to repent.  This is our third message that connects the dots between some of the trees mentioned in the Bible.  Luke 19:1-10, Sunday, January 31, at 8:30 a.m. (First Light Service) and at 10:00 a.m.

On your own front porch

There's something special about sitting on your front porch.  It conjures up images of quiet days, of relaxing in total peace and security with all the troubles of life safely at bay.  It's the image of I King 4:25:  they all "lived in safety, everyone under their own vine and fig tree."  This is our second message in a series on Trees in the Bible.  Sunday, Jan 24 at 8:30 a.m. (First Light service) and 10:00 a.m.

Trees, everywhere!

Trees - there are some 180 references to trees in the Bible.  Trees are an important part of the narrative in Genesis and right through to Revelation.  This Sunday we begin a series about trees in the Bible. We begin by looking at two trees which are given names in the fist chapters of the Genesis:  the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  Sunday, Jan 3, 2016, 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

The Christmas Coronary

You polished off three helpings of turkey and stuffing, drank entirely too much eggnog, yelled at your kids and squabbled with your in-laws. And now there's a painful feeling in your chest: a feeling like you can’t take a deep breath. And really, come to think of it, you’re not feeling well at all.  Maybe it's stress. Maybe it's heartburn. But is it possible it could be a heart attack?
The Christmas Coronary is a serious concern.  Of equal importance is keeping the Christmas heart, the one that rejoiced at the birth of our Saviour, healthy all year long. Two days after Christmas we'll gather to worship the Christ of Christmas who is also the Christ of Dec 27, and new year's eve and 2016 and... eternity.  Sunday, Dec 27, 10 a.m.
